Shop Your Stash: August Edition and some FOTD

With a new month comes a whole new round of the Shop Your Stash project with new rediscovered products to try!  As I've mentioned before, I like doing this to really go through items in my collection I might have not used in awhile and to find new ways to use them.  After two months of doing this, I can say that it's going well and I'm definitely finding new products in my collection that I've forgotten about.

For those new to my blog, the Shop Your Stash project has a couple guidelines:
  • I pick 20 - 25 face, eye, and lip products that I want to use more often in the month
  • I have to use each product at least two times in the month

Without further ado, here are this month's selections!

Keep reading to see more details and swatches of all of the products!

CW from ELF Warm Bronzer, Revlon Colorstay, MAC Redhead MSF. ELF Facial Whip in Persimmon, VL Savannah Fresh, Maybelline Gentle Pink

T-B: ELF Warm Bronzer (individual shades, then blended), MAC Redhead, ELF Persimmon, VL Savannah Fresh, Maybelline Gentle Pink

For face, I'm starting off with the Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Golden Caramel.  Revlon Colorstay has consistently been one of my favorite foundations, but with all the lighter weight foundations I own now, along with my clearer skin, I don't find myself reaching for this anymore.  I'm determined to get more use out of this and use it up!

In my first Shop Your Stash, I featured the ELF Golden Bronzer, and this month I have the ELF Warm Bronzer.  It's slightly darker, and although it also has shimmery shades, I don't think this is as shimmery as the Golden Bronzer.  It's still too light to use as an actual bronzer for me, but it would definitely work as a subtle highlight.

I, like everyone else, went through a MAC MSF phase where I had to have them all, and although I still love the ones that I have dearly, I don't use them as much as I should.  The MAC Redhead MSF has been sitting unloved in my drawer, and it used to be one of my favorite ones.

Still on the subject of highlighters, the ELF Facial Whip in Persimmon is a great budget highlighter for only $1.  It looks insanely shimmery and frosty when you squeeze it out of the tube, but it blends out to be a beautiful glow without any actual glitter.  I used to use this a lot more, and honestly have no idea why I stopped using it!

The Vincent Longo Water Canvas Blushes are an HG product for a reason, and although I've used up the Aqua Crimson shade, I find the other shades like Savannah Fresh just as versatile and perfect.  It doesn't give me a rosy glow like Aqua Crimson, but it does add a very natural "she's got life but isn't piling on the blush" look to it.

Lastly for face, I have the Maybelline Mineral Power Blush in Gentle Pink.  These have been discontinued, I believe, but they are surprisingly good for a drugstore blush!  As you can see by the swatch, it's a bright cool pink that translates to a subtle rosy flush on my skin.

CW from Tokidoki Lion Pappas palette, NYX Walnut, L'oreal Bronzed Taupe, MAC Jadeye, Bare Minerals Oasis, MAC Reflects Blackened Red, MAC Copperclast

L-R from Tokidoki Lion Pappas palette, NYX Walnut, L'oreal Bronzed Taupe, Bare Minerals Oasis, MAC Reflects Blackened Red, MAC Copperclast

MAC Jadeye
Moving on to eyes, I pulled out the adorable Tokidoki Lion Pappas palette that I snagged when it went on sale last year.  It's fantastic quality, and has the perfect shades for a quick on the go look.  I've actually been loving the peachy pink blush on it, and see myself grabbing for this palette in the future when I need to do a quick look!

Although I love my NYX shadows, I definitely don't use them enough.  I think it's because I always buy neutral shades and they get overlooked in all the palettes that I do use on a frequent basis, but the NYX Eyeshadow in Walnut is actually a fairly unique shade in my collection.  It's a coppery brown that doesn't pull too orange on me, especially while I have a tan.

Yes, I own the famed L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe, and yes, it's as beautiful as everyone says it is.  It's the perfect shade to use as a subtle smoky eye, or as a crease shade. The accurately named bronzey taupe is just simply something I haven't reached for in awhile, despite its versatility.

When I was first getting into makeup, I was oddly obsessed with Bare Minerals.  It was a beautiful "splurge" for me, and I remember fondly when I first bought the Oasis eyeshadow as part of a trio set.  I'm not sure why I did, since I rarely wear green eyeshadow, but since I've discovered how much I actually like green on my eyes, I've been inspired to pull this out again.  It's a perfect subtle olive green shade with some golden shimmer.

As much as I love glitter, I wear it very rarely.  I depotted the MAC Glitter in Antiqued Gold, but I'm determined to sneak some sparkle into my looks somehow this month.  I imagine that it will pair well with my MAC Copperclast pigment, a reddish brown pigment with some subtle blue shimmer. It leans more reddish when it's blended out, but it's definitely one of the more unique shades in my collection that rarely gets used.

The last swatch is of the MAC Fluidline in Jadeye, an old LE turquoise gel liner. It's perfect for the summer with a bronzey smokey eye, either on the top last line or as a subtle liner on the lower lash line. I somehow never use this as often as I should, even though it really is a gorgeous shade!

L-R: Vincent Longo Happy Afternoon, Covergirl Tempt, MAC Gem of Roses, Tarte Hope

As for the lipsticks I've chosen for this month, I've gone for a very pink theme.  The first one is a bright Barbie pink from Vincent Longo in the shade Happy Afternoon.  I've actually used quite a bit of this when I was in my pink phase a couple years ago, but I really would like to incorporate it into my coral and orange obsession!

With fall just around the corner (how did that happen?), I want to start wearing some more berry shades again.  I figure a good place to start would be with the Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Tempt. It's dark and perfect for fall, but has just enough pink in it to keep it from being too vampy. The result?  A perfect magenta berry shade to be paired with some simple black winged liner.

One of my favorite MLBB lip sticks is the MAC Gem of Roses lipstick from a summer collection in 2011.  I've used this sparingly because it's actually the perfect lipstick and it was limited edition, but I'm reallly trying to make an effort to stop hanging on to items just because they're limited edition!

There's also something very appealing about a matte MLBB shade.  It's dramatic in a subtle way, and there's something wonderfully classy about it.  The Tarte Matte Lipsurgence in Hope is the perfect shade for that, and I can only hope that I can give a "she's a responsible adult" look with this.

L-R: Revlon Strawberry, Bite Vintage, Revlon Prized Peach, L'oreal Endless Red, Milani Ignition

For my lipglosses (and one lipstick), I have more pink glosses to use, starting with the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Strawberry, a pink lipgloss with silver shimmer. I remember the days when I thought this was a bold lip, but it is now a perfect pick me up pink gloss for me that I don't feel is too bright in the slightest.  It's one of those pinks that can brighten my face, and it gets extra points for not being sticky or drying.

Next is another MLBB gloss that swatches pretty clear.  The Bite Beauty line in Sephora has gotten a lot of buzz, but the Bite lipgloss in Vintage is the only product I own from it.  I actually have never tried this before (oops!), but I'm excited to try this and form my own opinions on it.

Although I haven't heard much buzz about the Revlon Ultimate Liquid Lipsticks, the shade in Prized Peach is a perfect subtle peach shade that stays true to its claim for its longevity.  It also does a good job of not drying my lips out, something I usually have an issue with when it comes to liquid lip colors.  I can, however, see this being problematic with red shades since it can look uneven, but since Prized Peach is a subtle shade, I have no problems with it.

I bout the L'oreal Glossy Lip Stain in Endless Red as a dupe for the YSL Glossy Stains in #9, but I'm not sure why I did since I already own the YSL version...but it's slightly cooler than the YSL version.  However, I also love the look of this one.  It's not as opaque, but that's exactly the reason I love it!  I have been wearing the L'oreal version more recently during the day time and the YSL version during night time.

The last lipstick that snuck into the lipgloss section is the Milani HD Lip Color in Ignition, which is a pinky-red.  I like these lipsticks for being sheer and moisturizing.  Out of the three shades I own, this is the one I use the least, so it's time to get some more use out of this!

Since we're a little more than a week into August, I've already created some looks using these products. Here's what I came up with!

I don't remember all of the exact products used, but I do have the main products from what I chose to use for this month!

I started the first FOTD with a typical bronze smoky eye and then some turquoise eyeliner underneath, and then I paired it with a pink lip.
Here's the color breakdown for this look:

NYX HD Eye Primer

MAC Indianwood Paint Pot

MAC Copperclast Eyeshadow

UD24/7 Pencil in Covet

Bare Minerals Oasis to set
Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner
Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

Lips:

For this next look, I used a combination of the antique gold in the Tokidoki palette with the Bare Minerals eyeshadow, a pretty golden olive shade.  Green shades are definitely a new discovery for me, and I am sure enjoying it!

Cheeks: Blush from the Tokidoki palette

Tokidoki Antique Gold

Tokidoki tan to blend out

MAC Jadeye Fluidline

Although MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow is not one of the products I chose for the month,  I definitely forgot how much this makes me eyes stand out.  It's usually too orange toned for me in the winter, but I will definitely be using this more often now!

I can't stress enough how much I like changing up my products to think up different looks.  Let me know if you like these types of posts!

Next up, an overload of food posts!
